Oops...

Okay life is busy, but a month between posts?! Ladies (and gentlemen?), I am so sorry for the sabbatical! Wow...hmm, where to begin?

How about some birthday shout outs? Haps to Dad, Marri, Rusti, Jordan, Brandi, Hutch, Liane, Tracie, Will, 6Gun, and Tex! Wow, I love all the August birthdays. But I can never remember them all or even the days! So sorry! But many well wishes! Love you all!

Skating and derby is completely consuming my life. No complaints here. Its a great sport and amazing comraderie! And I am a little half way done with my 3rd month of the training program. I really didn't think I would make it this far! I am still the slowest girl on the track, but I have amazing endurance and an unstoppable spirit! Recently, my derby name was submitted to the national registry, which is pretty exciting. It usually takes around 4 months to register a name, but I will be skating under the name WamBam ShankYouMa'am with the FoCo Girls Gone Derby (hopefully!!) in just a little under 2 months! Keep me in your thoughts on the 27th of this month as I will be tested to see if I am at the skill levl to move forward with training.

Finding loads of great music lately! Very nice. For the time being I have been into some really soulful tunes. If you are interested in soulful, bluesy, gospel-y, check out some of these artists:
Let me know if any of you guys like that selection. I might have some more to stear your way.

Well, I better get back at it friends. I will try to post again soon. Maybe some action derby shots (yes, its all I think about...DERBY!). Love you all!!

Rain...

Last night we had a spectacular rain storm. Unfortunately, it also brought a little bit of hail...my poor little car has a few freckles now. Sad!

But it was wonderful to fall asleep to falling raining. the cadence has this way of soothing me. Love it so much.

That's all...not profound, but just whats on my mind today. Hope you all are well out there.

Great Weekend!

I'll still some pictures from Ruth and Jess later and post them, but until then...

GREAT TIMES!
  • Besides the six thousand pound man on my flights (same guy, both flights. no joke) and my delay, the air travel was great.
  • I really wish Fort Collins would get a QuikTrip...summer is defined by QT sodas and (more recently) TA-QUI-TOS!
  • Nothing is better than hearing that you have been missed. It warms the heart like nothing else.
  • I want a kitten now. Thanks to Bear, the cutest kitters in the ENTIRE world.
  • I am determined to know what the ingredients of the best potato salad in the world are. I think over the course of 3 days I ate like 3 pounds of it.
  • Nearly got over my pig phobia, until Charlie reminded me baby pigs were the perfect height for biting my ankles, making me fall over, and then ripping my throat out. Phobia retained.
  • Fishing is best when you don't fish...well, when I don't fish. Good pictures, many memories.
  • "Small children getting sucked through sunroofs."
  • See "The Proposal." It is a hilarious movie with good times and seriously, Ryan Reynolds is a beautiful man. Yes please.
  • Thanks to everyone who made this weekend absolutely wonderful. Love you all!

Oh and this song has been stuck in my head all day. Totally fun and great beat...

Closure vs. healing

Here is something I have learned...closure is sort of a unicorn. You can't really grasp it. You can't really hold it. If closure is what you are seeking, I feel like it will be found at the end of a rainbow. And did i ever tell you rainbows are actually circular? Yep.

I hear the word closure and I think of ultimate end...no more hurt, no more worry. But is that even possible? No, of course not...so instead of seeking closure, I long for healing. At least that's what I call it.

Or maybe I have my definitions mixed up. I so often hear people say to me, you will heal. I process that as I will be fine again. I naively think to myself, someday I'll feel like this never happened. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.

Here's the truth I have been avoiding folks, healing doesn't mean that you won't have scars or stories to tell. Healing isn't erasing. Healing means that you have experienced something...and you have changed because of it.

Healing is good, because its growth.

1 Test Down, 3 To Go

I am 25% of the way done with derby training! Last night was our first test up, and we all passed. I know a few of us (mainly myself) were pretty freaked about the test. In fact I was sure I wouldn't pass. But guess what? We are all rockstars and passed! This is super exciting for everyone! Proud of you, grrls!
